Erakovic wins Bogota opener

02/15/2012 - Bogota, Colombia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Top-seeded Marina Erakovic of New Zealand was an easy opening-round winner at the $220,000 Copa BBVA Colsanitas tennis tournament.

After having her first-round match suspended because of rain here on Tuesday, Erakovic returned Wednesday to dismiss Swiss Stefanie Voegele 6-3, 6-4 on the red clay at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento. Erakovic was leading 1-0 on Tuesday when play was halted.

Up next for Erakovic on Thursday will be Romanian Edina Gallovits-Hall.

A pair of upsets occurred on Day 3, as Hungarian Timea Babos took out third- seeded Swiss Romina Oprandi 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in a second-round affair and Argentine qualifier Paula Ormaechea doused fourth-seeded former top-10 Aussie Jelena Dokic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in an opening-round affair.

In some other second-round action, Spaniard Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino defeated Czech Eva Birnerova 6-4, 6-0 and Kazakhstani qualifier Yaroslava Shvedova whipped Russian Valeria Savinykh 6-2, 6-2.

This week's champion will claim $37,000.
